About Ecumenical Not Ecumenist
Who We Are
Ecumenical Not Ecumenist is an independent True Orthodox media project run by minor clergy and faithful laypeople from within the Genuine Orthodox Church of Greece and her Sister Churches.
Our work is centred on information, outreach, representation and apologetics, creating accessible videos, articles and resources focused on True Orthodoxy, the Genuine Orthodox Church, Orthodox history, ecclesiology and the life of the Church today.
Our aim is to make reliable True Orthodox information easier to find, understand and explore — both for our own faithful and for sincere inquirers encountering these subjects for the first time.
What We Do
Ecumenical Not Ecumenist brings together original media, primary sources and educational resources in one place.
Our work includes videos and short-form media, source collections and further reading, news from True Orthodox communities around the world, historical and theological documents, and links to official Synods and ecclesiastical publications.
Wherever possible, we encourage readers and viewers to follow the sources for themselves, particularly when discussing Church history, ecclesiology, Ecumenism and official Church positions.
Review & Ecclesiastical Guidance
Our media and educational material is produced with the guidance, review and input of clergy and hierarchs within the Genuine Orthodox Church of Greece and her Sister Churches.
This review helps us approach theological, historical and ecclesiastical subjects with appropriate care and provides an additional layer of accountability when presenting the teaching and life of the True Orthodox Church.
Ecumenical Not Ecumenist remains an independent and unofficial media project. Ecclesiastical review of our work should not be understood as making the project itself an official organ of any Synod or hierarchy.
Why “Ecumenical Not Ecumenist”?
The name Ecumenical Not Ecumenist reflects an important distinction.
Ecumenical is an ancient word within the Orthodox Christian tradition, associated with the universal witness of the Church and familiar through expressions such as the Ecumenical Councils.
Ecumenism, in its modern ecclesiastical sense, refers to movements and forms of inter-Christian engagement that raise significant questions of ecclesiology, Church unity and the boundaries of the Church.
The True Orthodox Churches have historically opposed forms of modern Ecumenism they understand to conflict with Orthodox ecclesiology and the traditional confession of the Church.
Our name therefore expresses both an embrace of the ecumenical witness of Orthodoxy and a rejection of Ecumenism where it compromises Orthodox ecclesiology.
Our Approach
We believe Orthodox apologetics is strongest when readers are able to examine the evidence themselves.
Wherever possible, our work draws on primary documents, official ecclesiastical sources, historical material and published scholarship, with links and references collected alongside our videos and articles.
We also aim to distinguish clearly between official Church statements, historical sources, commentary and our own educational material.
Official Church Sources
Ecumenical Not Ecumenist provides educational and informational material, but it does not replace the official voice of the Church.
For formal statements of doctrine, ecclesiology and ecclesiastical policy, readers should consult the Genuine Orthodox Church of Greece, her Sister Churches and their respective Holy Synods directly.
We maintain a dedicated collection of links to official websites, synodal documents, encyclicals and other primary Church resources.
